Currently Listening
On And On
By Jack Johnson
see related

just reading..again...in relevant..

"faith should lead us beyond ourselves. yet so often it doesn't. so we manipulate it to suit our purposes."

in Captivating, Staci Eldridge writes about how we so easily create fictional worlds to feed our souls..which i interpreted as the way we reframe situations to be more tolerable, dare i say advantageous for ourselves. in this process of becoming fixated on my momentary hunger, i often times think i neglect to recognize the perspectives of others or the impact my distortions have on those around me.

We need the fictional world.  It is the place where we dream, we imagine, we dare.  It is food for the soul because it gives us hope, another world, a place without constraints.  These worlds we create give our lives purpose and meaning.  I imagine that MLK Jr. created an imaginary world in his speech, "I have a Dream!", only with the desire to see it come about, to be a reality.  I see the Kingdom in similar fashion.  It is a fictional idea that so permeates our very soul that we actually embody what it means to be "kingdom-people".  We take it from the imagination, and place it into our hands.  We live it out, embody it, and carry it to our communities and beyond that we actually usher it in from the dream to the present.  From the once to the now.
